Allison Moore is an independent artist, educator and cultural operator based in Montreal. Originally from Victoria, BC Moore has produced work in the Japan, Europe, Brazil, Cuba, and Australia. She has developed projects in video, animation and interactive computing as an invited artist at Studio XX, OBORO and the Society of Arts and Technology in Montreal.
In addition to her artistic practice, Moore has worked as professional editor, compositor and animator for film and television as well as teaching workshops for new media art practices. She has independently directed short experimental films, music videos and theatre projects. Moore’s work is funded through the Quebec Council of Arts and the Canada Council For the Arts.
Her work explores in a playful and systemic manner the fascinating universe of the dematerialization and the decontextualization of the image and the body as much on a conceptual level than on a technological one. Moore’s research and works reinterpret and rebuild the world as a metaphoric landscape in which sensitive beings are in synergy with their allegorical macrocosm.
